Field of activity
Eurex Clearing faces various types of risk and has comprehensive risk management policies and services in place to promote integrity, transparency, efficiency, and the safety of financial markets. The CCP risk management department is responsible to define these policies and effectively operate related procedures.
The Risk Design team within the CCP Risk Management department conceptualizes, implements, and maintains processes around the integration of change into the risk management framework. In addition, the team takes a leading role in the design of functional architecture implemented in numerous infrastructure projects enabling professional risk management of Counterparty Credit and other adjacent risks today and in the future. In your role as Functional Design Specialist you will act as the main interface between risk business functions and IT (project) organizations and help shape a system architecture that is aligned with required risk management capabilities.

 

Tasks/responsibilities

  • Accompany major infrastructure projects for risk management processes as main interface between risk business and IT teams
  • Take leading role in the functional design stream of the R7 project (Next Generation Risk Systems) and make sure business requirements are reflected in the architecture of new IT services
  • Support project organizations in the definition of meaningful milestones aligned with stakeholders across risk and business development functions 
  • Develop and maintain functional business- as well as data-architecture incl. blueprint documents that define the focus areas, principles and strategic directions of risk capabilities and requirements
  • Collect and analyse business requirements of different risk business functions, cluster them along common themes and translate them into project roadmaps aligned with the Eurex Business Strategy
  • Contribute conceptual work products in the areas of market data/pricing, core risk processes as well as analytics and reporting to major change initiatives based on your individual skill set
  • Regularly engage with risk management and client facing teams to understand business development trends and derive impacts on risk related dependencies and required risk management capabilities
  • Regularly present fundamental design choices and potential optionality to involved stakeholders including senior management

 

Qualifications/required skills

  • M.Sc. or PHD in a quantitative or economical discipline (Econometrics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Financial Engineering, or any other comparable field with risk management focus)
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in risk management with conceptual focus. Expert knowledge of financial instruments (ETD, OTC, cash market), valuation methods and market risk management methods. Sound knowledge of the CCP Business model.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving as well as communication skills
  • Affinity to technology, especially cloud based/cloud ready infrastructure
  • High commitment, motivation, hands-on attitude and willingness to take on responsibility
  • Basic project management experience or experience to organize and manage complex tasks including presenting to the senior management, clients, industry participants and regulators
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; additional German language skills will be an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and external standards is a plus
