Your area of work:
Our highly skilled and experienced team members in Frankfurt/Eschborn, Prague, Luxembourg, Chicago and Zürich are acting as a professional and reliable service provider for our internal and external customers and stakeholders. The Network Engineering Trading Team is responsible for developing and building DBG's global trading networks. We are responsible for the delivery of trading data to our customers, either in colocation in Frankfurt or connected via leased lines at one of our access points. 
To support our team, we are now looking for a network engineer (m/f) who will support us to maintain and further improve in the colocation environment. Very high standards of fairness are required here. We have to ensure this by providing world class infrastructure including, 
in particular, normalized fiber optic cabling as well as suitable switch hardware components that have to be selected, tested and put into production. Ongoing optimization of the infrastructure is a must.
 
Your responsibilities:

  • Research, conception, further development, implementation of the physical network infrastructure 
  • Carrying out measurements of interconnection links for length determination 
  • Perform related practical tasks in the data centre, e.g. measuring cable length to ensure quality, install new device, install cabling/patches
  • Develop automated test scenarios and tools for evaluation to monitor customer connections
  • You ensure the operational stability of the area of responsibility
  • You will create and maintain detailed documentation and procedures of measurements in the Colo network in all aspects of their use and ensure that related work is carried out in accordance with documented procedures.
  • You provide consultancy services to other departments and support the implementation of various product vendors and technologies.
  • You will provide escalation support as required by following processes and interacting appropriately with other departments and end users

 
Your profile:

  • Experience in DC infrastructure, at least 3 years
  • Proven practical experience in network technology
  • Basic knowledge in the network area
  • Knowledge of the time concepts NTP, PTP, WR-PTP, and PPS
  • Good knowledge of the physical infrastructure TAP, fibre optic cables, coax cables
  • Handling of measuring devices such as OTDR, cable-tester is a prerequisite
  • Experience with documentation tools in the field of cable management is highly desirable
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work in a critical production environment; perform regular installations on weekends 
  • Willingness to take over responsibility
  • Willingness to gain expertise on new technologies
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; German considered a plus
  • Willingness to travel (<10%)
