Your area of work:
Deutsche Börse´s Market Data + Services business supports capital market participants in their digital transformation. It provides Data Services to members of the financial community worldwide. MD+S is the home of all relevant data from Deutsche Börse’s trading platforms like Xetra or Eurex, as well as renowned index-brands DAX and STOXX. The Data Services department develops, maintains and markets all of Deutsche Börse’s data, amongst them the proprietary market data of Deutsche Börse and its cooperation partners. In addition, we provide a leading set of analytics and sophisticated metrics for both investment and trading strategies applying modern statistical methods, big data analytics and machine learning. Our clients are the leading financial organizations worldwide, amongst them the leading investment banks, hedge funds and specialist providers of financial information.

As a Head of Unit (f/m/d) you drive the Business Strategy and M&A activities of the data business of Deutsche Börse AG. Together with your team, you will be leading strategic projects, develop organic breakout options, work on M&A deals and conduct the area’s financial analysis.


Your responsibilities:

  • You work closely with the Head of Market Data + Services and the Trading & Clearing strategy teams to lead the strategy development of the overall business and the decisioning around M&As to strengthen the area’s competitive position and profitable business expansion
  • You lead the identification and coordination of selective M&As to support growth and external positioning in the marketplace including deal transaction execution with the Group M&A teams
  • You lead strategic projects and initiatives aimed at long-term growth, with a focus on inorganic growth opportunities as well as partnerships by conducting strategic market and financial analysis, evaluating potential options and negotiating with internal and external executives
  • You prepare senior management level written decision proposals and analyses for internal and external executives
  • As a secondary function your team will support financial planning and initiative tracking and as a tertiary task coordinate compliance/audit/risk tasks within the department


Your profile:

  • You have completed your university degree in economics, finance or similar degree in a relevant field of expertise with excellent results – completed Master and/or CFA is a plus
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in at least one of the following areas: Strategy, M&A, Finance, ideally in a position of consultancy / group strategy / M&A advisory in the financial services sector
  • You are a strong and committed team player willing to cooperate with multiple departments and legal entities across different continents
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills with a structured approach to problem solving and attention to detail
  • You have excellent slidewriting, storylining and Powerpoint skills
  • You have excellent financial modelling and Excel skills
  • You are fluent in English (spoken and written). German language skills are a plus
