Your career at Deutsche Börse Group

Your area of work:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Test Environment Engineer to join our EnvPrep team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the meticulous preparation, provisioning, and support of acceptance test environments across Azure, GCP, and on-premise infrastructure. You will ensure that test cycles for our diverse application portfolio are executed on-time and with high quality, by managing machine provisioning, complex data setups, precise application deployments, and robust IT security configurations. Your work directly enables our rigorous functional acceptance testing and contributes to the overall reliability and compliance of Clearstream's IT systems.

Your responsibilities:

  • Environment Provisioning & Management:

    • Provision and configure virtual machines (VMs) and other necessary infrastructure components across Azure, GCP, and on-premise environments.

    • Manage and execute complex production data copies and provisioning for test cycles, ensuring data integrity and compliance.

    • Perform application deployment and configuration for a diverse portfolio, including C++, J2EE, and OpenShift-migrated applications.

    • Set up and maintain database instances (Oracle, MongoDB, MS-SQL, OpenEdge Progress) for test environments.

    • Leverage automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudForms) to streamline environment setup and maintain consistency.

  • IT Security & Compliance for Test Environments:

    • Implement and manage IT security configurations specific to test environments, including IAM roles, PAM, SSH keys, and JKS setups, ensuring adherence to internal standards and regulatory requirements.

    • Collaborate closely with central IT Security teams to validate that test environments meet necessary security and compliance postures, particularly for SIMU environments which are treated as PROD from a security perspective.

  • Operational Support & Troubleshooting:

    • Provide expert support and troubleshooting for test environments during acceptance test cycles, rapidly resolving infrastructure, data, and application-related issues.

    • Collaborate effectively with external infrastructure teams (DBAs, Netbackup, Storage, SysAdmins, Network) to resolve dependencies and ensure smooth environment operations.

  • Process Improvement & Documentation:

    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of environment preparation processes, focusing on automation, efficiency, and reliability.

    • Actively document environment configurations, setup procedures, troubleshooting guides, and common issues to build a robust knowledge base and reduce tribal knowledge.

    • Promote a culture of proactive problem-solving, documentation, and work sharing within the team.

Your profile:

  • Proven experience in a test environment management, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps role, with a strong focus on preparing and supporting complex IT environments.

  • Hands-on experience with provisioning and managing infrastructure in multi-cloud (Azure, GCP) and on-premise setups.

  • Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins and Puppet for infrastructure and configuration management.

  • Familiarity with database technologies (Oracle, MongoDB, MS-SQL) and application stacks (C++, J2EE, OpenShift).

  • Strong understanding of IT security concepts as applied to infrastructure and application environments (IAM, access controls, data security).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with internal sub-teams, development teams, test teams, and external infrastructure departments.

Additional Skills (Beneficial):

  • Experience with large-scale data provisioning for non-production environments.

  • Knowledge of specific testing methodologies and tools.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

  • Scripting proficiency (e.g., Python, Bash) for custom automation or data manipulation.
