Your career at Deutsche Börse Group

Your area of work:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure the integrity, coherence, and performance of the databases powering our next-generation market infrastructure for fund distribution. Operating in a cloud-native and microservice-based environment, and interfacing with blockchain/DLT components, this role is critical for safeguarding the consistency, security, and quality of all data managed by the platform.

The ideal candidate combines solid technical expertise in database administration with strong analytical and communication skills. They will oversee data models, ensure end-to-end data consistency, and lead customer data migrations while collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Compliance teams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Administer, monitor, and tune cloud-native databases (production, staging, and development) to ensure high availability, integrity, and optimal performance.
  • Data Modeling & Governance: Design, maintain, and govern logical and physical data models (relational/NoSQL), collaborating with Architects and Engineers to support long-term scalability and architecture standards.
  • Client Onboarding & Migration: Plan, execute, and automate secure client data migrations, developing robust validation workflows, scripts, and troubleshooting tools for seamless onboarding.
  • Data Quality & Cleaning: Design and automate data-cleaning routines to detect, reconcile, and remediate inconsistencies, duplicates, and anomalies across source systems.
  • Data Warehousing & ETL: Build and operate a centralized data warehouse and automated ETL/ELT pipelines, consolidating data from microservices, relational/NoSQL stores, and on/off-chain sources.
  • BI & Analytics Enablement: Partner with Data Scientists to provision data cubes and develop semantic reporting layers, KPIs, and dashboards (e.g., Power BI) for self-service business insights.
  • Security, Compliance & DR: Ensure rigorous adherence to security, privacy, and compliance standards through access controls, encryption, data masking, and regular backup/disaster recovery testing.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration & DevOps: Partner with DevOps, Product, and Engineering teams to integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines, support feature delivery, and lead incident root-cause analyses.

Your profile:

  • Professional Experience: 4–8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, Data Engineer, or in a similar role, ideally within fintech, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Database Expertise: Deep knowledge of relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, CosmosDB), including managed, cloud-native services like Azure SQL.
  • Data Modeling & Architecture: Solid understanding of logical/physical data modeling, schema design, and normalization/denormalization within microservice and distributed-system architectures.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for diagnosing performance and consistency issues in production.
  • Data Integration & Migrations: Extensive hands-on experience with data migrations, ETL/ELT pipelines, structured data transformation, and rigorous data-quality assurance processes.
  • Modern Operations & DevOps: Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams using DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tooling to support cloud-native environments.
  • Compliance & Security: Solid awareness of compliance, data-protection, auditing, and security requirements typical of regulated financial environments.
  • DLT/Blockchain (Plus): Familiarity with blockchain/DLT data flows and maintaining on-chain/off-chain data consistency is highly advantageous.
  • Language & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus) to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
