Your career at Deutsche Börse Group

Your area of work

As Head of Market Data Management for Deutsche Börse Group, you will lead strategic partner management for external market data licensing, supporting the eight businesses units (SimCorp, ISS STOXX, EUREX, EEX, Deutsche Börse, 360T, Clearstream Securities Services and Fund Services) with strategic sourcing, vendor management, vendor negotiation, commercial oversight, and usage governance.

As part of section Group Data you work directly with the Group’s Chief Data Officer in contributing to the enterprise data strategy by streamlining external market data sourcing, ingestion, and intragroup sharing. Group Data is led by the Group’s Chief Data Officer who drives the further buildout of the group-wide data mesh and data governance to improve access to high-quality, governed data for decision making, AI & automation, and commercialization. Data plays a key role in Deutsche Börse Group’s digital transformation as foundation for AI and digital business models.

Your responsibilities

  • You lead global market data sourcing across real-time, delayed, historical, reference, index, ratings, alternative, and derived data. Ownership of market data licensing encompasses especially display, non-display, redistribution, derived data, index, benchmark, enterprise, application, and AI/model-related usage
  • You manage strategic relationships with exchanges, data vendors, index providers, rating agencies, brokers, platforms, and other data suppliers, managing internal and external stakeholders up to management level
  • You lead vendor negotiations, renewals, commercial reviews, contract optimisation, audits, remediation and dispute resolution, and support translating business data requirements into appropriate sourcing, licensing and delivery solutions
  • You establish a global licensing and usage control framework across entities, locations, systems and business lines, ensuring usage aligns with vendor contracts, exchange policies, audit requirements, regulatory expectations, and internal governance standards
  • You partner with procurement, compliance, finance, technology, and business stakeholders to manage licensing, commercial, and contractual risk – maintaining a clear view of vendor policy changes, exchange fee changes, regulatory developments, technology trends and emerging data usage models
  • You provide commercial oversight of market data spend, including budgeting, forecasting, vendor cost analysis, renewal planning, savings opportunities and contract rationalisation. This includes reducing cost leakage, duplication and uncontrolled usage, while improving commercial terms and vendor governance
  • You provide leadership and direction to central and decentral market data administration, inventory, entitlement, reporting, and data consuming teams, including where these teams have dotted-line reporting

Your profile

  • You have at least 6 years of market data management experience within a bank, asset manager, hedge fund, trading firm, exchange, data vendor or financial services institution, with proven experience leading complex vendor negotiations, commercial reviews, renewals, audits, remediation and dispute resolution
  • You possess deep understanding of market data licensing, vendor contracts, exchange policies, commercial models and consumption types, and a solid understanding of legal and contractual components, including licensing rights, audit provisions, liability, redistribution rights and termination provisions
  • You combine profound commercial aptitude, including ability to manage cost, reduce risk, improve contractual outcomes and strengthen vendor governance, with strong relationship management skills across vendors and internal stakeholders, including business, technology, finance, compliance, and procurement
  • You are experienced in operating across multiple business lines, legal entities, and jurisdictions as well as leading and influencing teams that may not report directly into the role
  • You have a strong understanding of market data governance, controls, usage monitoring, entitlement management, inventory management and reporting, and can effectively communicate to senior management, with the ability to simplify complex licensing, legal, commercial, technical and operational issues
  • You are an experienced team leader, with excellent organizational skills, ability to manage and adapt to change, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail in high volume and high impact situations, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Financial market data licensing certification is a plus (e.g., FISD Data Licensing Specialist, Financial Information Associate, or equivalent)
