We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis/Operations Engineer whose primary responsibility is management of the SAP systems and environment. In this role the employee will be actively involved in configuring, maintaining, and enhancing SAP Basis and handling SAP System Version Upgrade, SP Upgrade, HANA migrations and implementations, as well as monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environments.

Our SAP BASIs/Operations team develops and runs the full SAP environment – S4, BW4, ERP, CRM, BW, and Cloud applications with Ariba, SuccessFactors, Concur, SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Cloud Platform along the full lifecycle all being monitored by Solution Manager 7.2. Our goal is to move all our remaining on-premises SAP systems to GCP. 

The SAP Basis Administrator must possess the ability to analyze situations and provide problem resolution. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a requirement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the multiple SAP instances that comprise the SAP environment (development, test, training, and production)
  • Maintain the integrity of the SAP environment by managing the SAP TMS to ensure all configuration and development objects are promoted properly
  • Introduce technical changes into the environment using a structured approach that minimizes risk and achieves high reliability, availability, and performance of each SAP instance
  • Design and implement an optimal SAP configuration to maximize system performance and availability
  • Install and configure all required SAP HANA database servers and application servers
  • Distribute the online SAP user workload and monitor and manage the SAP background job workload
  • Maintain SAP performance by planning and executing SAP tuning strategies
  • Monitor all SAP systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.)
  • Administer the SAP HANA and ORACLE database as Database Administrator (plan and perform database upgrades, apply database maintenance, design and maintain physical database layout, perform database reorganizations, design and implement backup and restore strategy, maintain database security, administer database performance, manage database storage, database problem determination and resolution, etc.)
  • Knowledge and working experience in cloud infrastructure (SAP on GCP)
  • Work with multiple IT vendors / partners
  • Education and Experience Required:
  • 8+ years (minimum) experience in SAP BASIS Administration with 4 years in SAP HANA.
  • Typically, 8+ years of experience in SAP environments in, SAP S/4 HANA, Business Information Warehouse (BW4HANA), Business Intelligence (BI) etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in computer science, engineering or related area of study, or equivalent experience


Your Profile

  • HANA Implementation experience- Proven HANA support experience, including administration, backup, and fail-over
  • Expertise managing any of SAP HANA, ERP, Portal, BW, PI/PO, GRC, Gateway/Fiori, Solution Manager and SLD systems
  • SAP ABAP & JAVA system installation & administration
  • HANA SPS updates, administration, and Backup configuration
  • Configuration of SAP HANA High Availability and Disaster Recovery set up
  • Performed Support Package Update through SDM, JSPM, SUM
  • SAP client copies and system refreshes
  • Good knowledge about ORACLE Database 
  • Oracle DB Upgrade and SAP Bundle Patch update
  • SAP System Refresh for Oracle Database: DB Recovery, Point in time recovery.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication, presentation, and persuasion skills
  • Proven ability to manage and juggle competing priorities
  • Strong background in UNIX, Cloud infrastructure migrations (GCP an advantage)
  • Strong background in troubleshooting system performance problems or potential system installations
  • Oversee solving complex business problems by creating IT solutions in consultation with business partners, architects, and other stakeholders
  • Good Audit / system Hardening experience an advantage
  • SaaS experience is preferable
